Oral STD Panel

Sexually transmitted diseases (STDs) are also known as sexually transmitted infections (STI). This refers to a group of infections that can be spread from one person to another through sexual contact, which can include both oral contact and genital contact.

STDs are common, and it is possible to have an STD and not realize it. Symptoms of STDs can vary- some people might experience significant symptoms, and others might not have any symptoms at all. Even if people do not feel any symptoms, they can still spread STDs. This is why STD testing is so important.

Typically, STD testing is done with urine samples, blood samples, or genital swabs. Although these are very useful tests, they will not tell you if you have an STD in the oral cavity.

Any Lab Test Now’s Oral STD Panel can be ordered on its own, or in addition to one of our other full STD panels. The Oral STD Panel includes testing for gonorrhea, chlamydia, syphilis (Treponema pallidum), herpes simplex virus I and II, trichomoniasis, Mycoplasma genitalium, and Ureaplasma urealyticum in the oral cavity.

To test for oral STDs, all it takes is a quick and easy saliva sample. This, along with “standard” STD testing, will give you a much more comprehensive picture of your STD/STI status.
