Cyclospora Infection Test
The Cyclospora Infection Test detects the presence of Cyclospora, a microscopic parasite that can cause intestinal infection. It is typically contracted by consuming contaminated food or water. Symptoms of Cyclospora infection include:
- Frequent and sometimes explosive, watery diarrhea
- Bloating and excessive gas
- Nausea and stomach cramps
- Fatigue
- Loss of appetite
Symptoms may develop between 2 days and 2 weeks after exposure. In some cases, these symptoms may improve temporarily and then return.
Because Cyclospora lives in the intestines, this infection cannot be diagnosed with a blood test. Instead, the Cyclospora Infection Test uses a stool (fecal) specimen. Your Any Lab Test Now location will provide you with instructions and specimen collection supplies to take home. After collecting your specimen(s), simply return them to the store for shipment to the laboratory. Results are typically available within 48 to 72 hours.
If your test results are positive, you can share the test results with your healthcare provider for treatment or connect with a licensed clinician through our telehealth partner, DialCare. A prescription may be required to fully resolve this illness.
