WHO SHOULD GET THIS TEST?

This test is for females experiencing symptoms that could be caused by an STI, or who are concerned that they may have been exposed to an STI.

WHAT KIND OF SAMPLE IS REQUIRED?

A self-collected vaginal swab is required for this test.

ARE THERE INSTRUCTIONS FOR COLLECTING THE SAMPLE?

Yes. There is a QR code on the Visby device box to download the Visby App for step-by-step video instructions. There are also printed instructions in the box.      

WHAT DO I NEED TO DO TO PREPARE?

Refrain from the use of any of the following for 48 hours before taking this test: douches, washes, lubricants, vaginal wipes, vaginal moisturizers, antiperspirants, deodorants, or feminine hygiene spray. If you are taking the antibiotic doxycycline (Vibramycin), wait until it has been at least 48 hours since your last dose before taking this test.

DO I NEED TO COLLECT MY SAMPLE AT A SPECIFIC TIME OF DAY?

No. You can collect and test at any time of day or night.

CAN I COLLECT MY SAMPLE IF I AM ON MY PERIOD?

You can take this test at any point in your menstrual cycle. However, it is best to avoid testing during the heavy flow day(s) of your period.

HOW LONG WILL IT TAKE TO GET MY RESULTS?

Your test results will be available in your Visby Medical App profile in approximately 30 minutes.

WHAT DOES PCR MEAN? DOES IT IMPROVE TEST ACCURACY?

PCR testing is the same gold-standard technology used in professional labs.      

IS A DOCTOR’S ORDER REQUIRED?

No. This test is approved for home use without doctor’s order.

AM I REQUIRED TO FAST?

No. Fasting is not required prior to taking this test.
