Complete Hormone Health Panel

Your hormones are your body’s messaging system.  They carry messages that give instructions to your organs and tissues to keep your body functioning properly.  Hormones regulate biological processes like metabolism, blood pressure balance, stress response, sexual function, and reproduction.  They also play an important role in your sleep cycle and mood balance.

Throughout your life, your hormone balance will naturally change. Sometimes, these changes can impact your overall health and lead to unpleasant symptoms like unintentional weight gain or loss, fatigue, brain fog, mood disturbances, changes in your sleep quality, and changes in your sex drive.  Your fertility can also be affected.

If you are experiencing any issues like these, the Complete Hormone Health Panel is a great tool to help you find the root cause of your symptoms.  By targeting adrenal, pituitary, and thyroid function, this panel gives you a complete picture of your overall hormone balance as it relates to mental health, metabolic health, and sexual and reproductive function.

FAQs

WHO SHOULD GET THIS TEST?

The Complete Male Hormone Health Panel is designed for customers interested in monitoring their overall hormone balance or who are experiencing unpleasant symptoms that might be related to hormonal changes.

WHY IS THIS TEST IMPORTANT?

Hormone changes occur naturally throughout a person’s life.  However, sometimes these changes can cause unpleasant symptoms and even be the result of larger health issues.  The Complete Hormone Health Panel evaluates 14 biomarkers (11 hormones, 2 essential proteins, and 1 antibody) so that imbalances can be easily identified.

    • Estradiol is the primary form of estrogen produced in biological females.  It is also produced in males, though at lower levels.  In females, estradiol is critical for overall reproductive health and development.  In males, estradiol plays a role in healthy sexual function.
  • Testosterone (Free & Total) is the primary sex hormone in biological males and is responsible for sexual development and function.  Free testosterone is the biologically active form of testosterone.  Females also produce testosterone, though at lower levels than males.
  • Progesterone is mainly associated with females, where it plays an essential role in menstrual cycle regulation.  In males, progesterone is a critical component of testosterone production.
  • DHEA-Sulfate is an important hormone that is a precursor to both estrogen and testosterone.
  • Luteinizing Hormone (LH) plays a role in ovulation and menstrual cycle regulation in biological females.  In males, LH triggers testosterone production by the testes.
  • Follicle-Stimulating Hormone (FSH) is responsible for the development of follicles in the ovaries of biological females.  Mature follicles release eggs during ovulation.  In males, FSH is involved in the production of sperm.
  • Prolactin stimulates breast development and the production of milk in females after giving birth.  In males, prolactin is present in lower amounts and affects sexual function.
  • Sex Hormone-Binding Globulin (SHBG) is a protein responsible for the transport of testosterone and estradiol through the blood stream.
  • Thyroid-Stimulating Hormone (TSH) is produced by the pituitary gland and is responsible for stimulating release of thyroid hormones from the thyroid gland.
  • Free Triiodothyronine (T3) is the more biologically active thyroid hormone.  It plays an important role in regulating metabolism and cellular energy production.
  • Free Thyronine (T4) is the precursor hormone to T3.  The primary role of T4 is to be converted to T3 in the liver, kidneys, and other organs.
  • Thyroid Peroxidase (TPO) Antibodies are immune system proteins that attack thyroid peroxidase, which is an enzyme essential to the production of thyroid hormones.
  • Cortisol is a hormone produced in response to stress.  It plays a role in many functions, including metabolism, inflammation response, and sleep-wake cycles.
  • Albumin is the most abundant protein in blood and plays a role in hormone transport.
