Alzheimer’s Blood Test

Our Alzheimer’s Blood Test is a simple screen for adults age 50+ that looks at 5 biomarkers linked to changes in the brain associated with Alzheimer’s disease.  The test analyzes proteins associated with the formation of amyloid plaques in the brain, including p-tau217, along with markers of cellular injury and inflammation, which work together to provide a clearer picture than a single marker alone.  The test results provide an amyloid risk score (0-100) and categorization of low, intermediate, or high likelihood of amyloid plaques.

This test is not a diagnosis and is not intended for healthy individuals with no symptoms of cognitive decline. It is a tool to gauge Alzheimer’srelated risk that should be evaluated by a clinician in the context of your symptoms and medical history. Results are designed to help you and your care team decide on appropriate next steps, which may include additional tests or imaging. To support you, every test includes a coaching session with a boardcertified neurologist who will review your results, explain what they mean, and outline practical next steps. Our goal is to give you clear, compassionate information so you can plan with confidence.

Note:

LucentAD® Complete blood test is provided by Lucent Diagnostics.  This test is not a standalone diagnostic tool and does not by itself confirm or rule out Alzheimer’s Disease. Please review your results with your doctor, who can place them in the full context of your medical history and other evaluations.

Individual assay values are for informational purposes only. Individual markers are not to be used for diagnostic purposes. These markers are combined in an algorithm to give a single score to indicate whether amyloid plaque is the cause of memory loss. This test was developed, and its performance characteristics determined by Quanterix Corporation in a manner consistent with CLIA requirements. This test has not been cleared or approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.

FAQs

WHO SHOULD GET THIS TEST?

The Alzheimer’s Blood Test is useful for anyone aged 50+ experiencing memory problems or confusion, or who has a family history of Alzheimer’s disease.

WHY IS THIS TEST IMPORTANT?

The Alzheimer’s Blood Test expands access to Alzheimer’s disease evaluation by providing a minimally invasive, blood-based tool to support clinical assessment for Alzheimer’s disease, reducing the need for more invasive tests or imaging studies in many cases.

IS THIS A DIAGNOSTIC TEST?

No.  While the test provides important information, it is not used on its own to diagnose Alzheimer’s disease.  Your healthcare provider will use these results to help determine if additional diagnostic testing is required or if other causes for your symptoms should be investigated.

IS THIS A GENETIC TEST TO SEE IF ALZHEIMER’S DISEASE RUNS IN MY FAMILY?

No. This test does not predict genetic risk of developing Alzheimer’s disease.

CAN I ORDER THIS TEST WITHOUT THE TELEHEALTH COACHING SESSION?

No. Due to the complexity of the test and the sensitive nature of the results, the telehealth session is required. You will not receive your results until you have completed an appointment with a NeuroX neurologist. The session is intended to ensure that you understand your results and give you the opportunity to ask any questions you may have.

IS THIS TEST FDA-APPROVED?

No.  This is a laboratory‑developed test, not an FDA‑approved kit. It is performed in a CLIA‑certified laboratory that specializes in ultra‑sensitive Alzheimer’s biomarker testing. Many advanced lab tests in neurology and oncology are offered this way.

WHAT IF MY RISK SCORE IS HIGH?

A higher score suggests a higher likelihood of Alzheimer’s‑type changes in the brain. Your provider may recommend more detailed testing, such as brain imaging, or refer you to a specialist. It doesn’t automatically mean you have Alzheimer’s, but it means you and your doctor should look more closely.

WHAT IF MY RISK SCORE IS LOW - AM I IN THE CLEAR?

A low score suggests it’s less likely your symptoms are due to Alzheimer’s‑type changes, but it doesn’t guarantee everything is normal. Your provider should still consider other possible causes for your symptoms.

WHAT KIND OF SAMPLE IS REQUIRED?

This test requires a blood sample.

WHAT DO I NEED TO DO TO PREPARE?

No special preparation is required.  However, drinking plenty of water prior to any blood draw procedure is recommended.

IS A DOCTOR’S ORDER REQUIRED?

No.  At Any Lab Test Now, we provide the doctor’s order for the test and arrange for you to have a telehealth session with a neurologist to discuss the results. Both the test and the session are included in the price.

DO I NEED TO MAKE AN APPOINTMENT?

No.  You can walk in for same-day testing.  We make it easy by offering work-friendly store hours.

HOW LONG WILL IT TAKE TO GET MY RESULTS?

Testing is typically completed within 14 days of the lab receiving your sample.  Upon completion of the telehealth session, you will receive a copy of your results.

IF I HAVE QUESTIONS ABOUT MY RESULTS, WHO SHOULD I CONTACT?

You will have the opportunity to ask questions during your telehealth session with a board-certified neurologist from NeuroX.  We also recommend that you share your results with your healthcare provider in order to design a care plan that makes sense for you.
