THE MEDICINE ABUSE PROJECT

The Medicine Abuse Project

The Medicine Abuse Project is a multi-year effort to curb prescription and over-the-counter medication abuse. Some of the most commonly abused medications, many times easily found in and discreetly taken from unlocked cabinets, drawers or purses; or sold on the street include but are not limited to

  • Oxycontin (Oxycodone)
  • Vicodin (Hydrocodone)
  • Dextromethorphan (cough syrup with DXM)
  • Adderall
  • Valium and Xanax
  • Sleep medications

Did you know

  • Every day more than 2,000 kids use prescription drugs to get high for the first time?
  • Prescription medicines are now the most commonly abused drugs by 12 - 13 year olds?
  • Unintentional drug poisoning is now the leading cause of death in the United States?

Join us as we work with Drugfree.org to educate the public, monitor prescription and over the counter drugs, safeguard medicine in our home, safely dispose of unused medicine, and eliminate improper dispensing practices.
