Ultimate STD Panel

Sexually transmitted diseases (STDs), also referred to as sexually transmitted infections (STIs), are a group of infections that can be spread from one person to another through sexual contact.  Many people may not realize that some STDs “live” at the site of infection, which can include the mouth and throat if the sexual contact is oral.  Traditional STD tests only involve urine samples, blood samples, or genital swabs.  Although these tests are very useful, they may not provide the full picture of a person’s complete STD status.

The Ultimate STD Panel is the only panel designed to test for genital and oral STD infections by testing a combination of urine, blood, and saliva samples.  Blood will be used to screen for HIV, syphilis, hepatitis B, and hepatitis C infections.  The urine and saliva samples will be used to screen for gonorrhea, chlamydia, trichomonas, mycoplasma, and others.

Since it is possible for STDs to be present without symptoms, thorough testing is essential.  Not just for your health, but also for your partner’s.  This comprehensive test helps ensure early detection and supports responsible sexual health.

FAQs

WHO SHOULD GET THIS TEST?

The Ultimate STD Panel is useful for any consumer interested in monitoring their total sexual health and wellness.

WHY IS THIS TEST IMPORTANT?

According to the CDC, millions of new STD infections occur annually in the United States.  STD infections don’t always present with symptoms, so testing is the best way to  know if you have one.

The Ultimate STD Panel includes:

  1. HIV (Blood): HIV is a viral infection that attacks the immune system and causes AIDS.  This condition damages the immune system and can lead to serious illness, infections, and many other symptoms.
  2. Hepatitis B (Blood): Hepatitis B is one of several types of viral infections that attack the liver.  If left untreated, hepatitis infections can lead to fatigue or other more serious illnesses like liver failure.
  3. Hepatitis C (Blood): Hepatitis C is one of several types of viral infections that attack the liver.  If left untreated, it can lead to chronic hepatitis, which may progress to cirrhosis or liver cancer.
  4. Syphilis (Blood/Urine/Oral): Syphilis is a bacterial infection that can have serious consequences if left untreated. It develops in stages: primary stage, secondary stage, latent stage, and tertiary stage. Symptoms vary with each stage, and it is possible to have syphilis for several years without noticing symptoms.
  5. Gonorrhea (Urine/Oral): Gonorrhea is one of the most common STDs. Gonorrhea is treatable, but it has progressively developed resistance to certain antibiotics. If gonorrhea is not treated early enough, it can lead to serious health problems in the future.
  6. Chlamydia (Urine/Oral): Chlamydia is the most common bacterial STI in the United States. It is treatable with antibiotics, but if left untreated, it can cause serious issues, including pelvic inflammatory disease.
  7. Trichomoniasis (Urine/Oral): Trichomoniasis is a parasitic infection. It is a major cause of vaginitis and is easily treatable. Trichomoniasis rarely causes symptoms in men; in women, symptoms may include pain with urination, itching or irritation around the vagina, foul-smelling discharge, and more.
  8. Mycoplasma (Urine/Oral): Mycoplasma genitalium is a bacterial infection. If detected, it should be promptly treated with antibiotics.
  9. Ureaplasma urealyticum (Urine/Oral): Ureaplasma urealyticum is another bacterial infection. It is often transmitted through sexual contact; however, it can also be part of the normal bacterial flora of the genital tract for many individuals.
