Who should be tested?

 


Men and women concerned about overall health, cholesterol levels and heart health. Anyone with a personal history or family history of high cholesterol, heart disease or diabetes.

 

 

 

What is the test for?


This test evaluates total cholesterol, HDL and LDL levels as well as triglyceride levels to assess cardiovascular health and risk of coronary heart disease.

 

Why get tested?

 

Many health professionals recommend that if you are age 20 or over you should include this test as part of your health maintenance plan once every five years. This test is especially beneficial for you if you have a personal or family history of high cholesterol or heart disease; or if you are physically inactive, overweight, have a diet that is high in fat or if you have diabetes.

 

 

 

How is the sample taken?


A blood sample drawn from a vein in the arm.

 

 

 

What do I need to do?


To insure accuracy you will should fast for 12 hours prior to your test.
