Why get tested?

The fasting blood glucose test is the most common test used for diagnosing hyperglycemia and hypoglycemia as well as diabetes. Type 2 diabetes can lead to many complications such as: heart disease, blindness, nerve damage, and kidney damage.

How is the sample taken?

A blood sample drawn from a vein in the arm.

What do I need to do?

Fast for at least eight hours before the test.
