Men concerned about Enlarged Prostate or Prostate Cancer. Men over 50 or men over 40 with a family history or other high risk factors for Prostate Cancer.

What is the test for?

To determine the levels of Prostate Specific Antigen; a protein produced by the prostate cells. Elevated levels of PSA can be a indication of an Enlarged Prostate or Prostate Cancer.

Why get tested?

Many health professionals recommend this test as a yearly screening for all men over 50 and for men over 40 if they are considered to be at a high risk for prostate cancer. If you have had prostate cancer, many health professionals recommend this test as a screening to see if the cancer has come back. You may also benefit from this screening if you are experiencing difficulty urinating or have other symptoms related to an enlarged prostate.

How is the sample taken?

A blood sample drawn from a vein in the arm.
