$49 Tests
Diabetic Urinalysis (Micro Albumin)
$49.00

Description:

Albumin is a protein that is filtered by your kidneys and therefore, not usually found in the urine. The Diabetic Urinalysis (Microalbumin) tests for the presence of this protein in your urine.

Why Do I Need It?:

If present in your urine, albumin may be the result of damaged kidneys. Early detection may change treatment in an effort to preserve as much kidney function as possible.

Other Relevant Tests:

Customers interested in the Diabetic Urinalysis may also want to consider the Diabetic Maintenance Panel, Lipid Panel, Basic Check-Up, Fasting Glucose, and Hemoglobin A1c.

Test Details:

Normal Range:

A normal diabetic urinalysis is less than 30 mg.

High Results Indicate:

There are two stages of high results. The first stage - with results ranging from 30 to 299 mg - indicates an early stage of kidney disease called microalbuminuria. The second stage - with results ranging from 300+ mg - indicates advanced kidney disease and is called macroalbuminuria.

Low Results Indicate:

There is no low result test range for this test. Any value under 30 mg is considered normal.

What Type of Physician Should You See?

When abnormal results are indicated in this test, you should see your regular physician (family care, internist, or gynecologist). Your regular physician may refer you to a kidney specialist called a nephrologist.

Next Steps:

  1. Buy test – either in-store or online. (*If online, don't forget to print out receipt!)
  2. Fill out necessary paperwork and how you want to receive the test results.
  3. Get results.
  4. Review results.
  5. If your results are 'abnormal' or 'out-of-range' from the normal, please contact your physician. (*The interpretation of any laboratory test should be made only by a licensed physician.)
