In the past, it was necessary to wait until you had missed your menstrual period before you were assured of getting an accurate diagnosis. Newer blood tests, the quantitative blood test or beta hCG test, can provide accurate readings as early as 6 to 8 days after ovulation.

Approximately 85% of women will become pregnant within one year of trying. This young lady had been unsuccessful for 21 months. If she had not become pregnant, she probably would have used fertility treatments, as do many women with PCOS. New CDC HIV Testing Guidelines Released

According to a report published in the December 15th issue of American Family Physician, the CDC (Centers for Disease Control) reviewed and updated the HIV testing guidelines. The CDC is now recommending that all persons aged 13 to 64 gets tested at least once for HIV regardless of risk factors.

Swine Flu on the Rise: New Tests Available

Typically, the seasonal flu is most dangerous for the very young (under 2 years) and the elderly. The Swine Flu has shown to be dangerous to a different population so it could be critical to know which strain you have. The groups identified as the most susceptible to the H1N1 virus include the young, from the ages of 6 months to 24 years, and pregnant women.
